The Cecil

If the weather for the past few days is any indicator of what kind of summer we're going to have, we might be in for some trouble ... it's been sooo nice out! My concern with it is that summer is going to be far too hot - as in uncomfortable hot ...

But for now, we'll just enjoy our 25 degree April days ... :)

So! The weekend was fun. We went to see The Donnas on Saturday night. They seemed like nice girls - we saw them get off the tour bus and they were nice enough to smile at us. They played an awesome set - they sound really good live. Quite impressive, yep. Yesterday I received some "post show gossip":

"Just shortly after the show, Big Donna got herself into a little trouble. We just missed the action apparently. The Bass player got arrested just outside the Venue. The Police had her in cuffs. CRIME: Mouthing off coppers. I'm told she was obnoxiously drunk. The tour manager was able to convince the Police not to take her away. The band went back to the Hotel for the evening."

Holy, rawk-n-roll star or what?! I had no idea she was wasted - she played bass really well! ;)

After the show we all headed over to a strip club. Our one friend, Marita, (managed to piss off one of the strippers .... all she wanted to do was get up on stage with her (ha ha!) - the stripper didn't like that idea - I guess it would have taken the attention away from her ... we later found out that Marita was eager to get on stage, as she's done some "dancing" in the past ... who knew?! Crazy.

iPod mini

I've been sick for the past week. Nothing too major - just a pesky cold. It's been bugging me for 8 days now - and I've just about had enough now. Go away! I haven't been complaining about it, though, as I figure it's better to be sick now than in a couple weeks or something ...

Despite being sick, I've been keeping busy. Don't have time to let a cold slow me down right now! I have to admit that I sorta slacked off with the print-job for awhile, but it's now back on track. Last night I spent about 4 hours cutting the prints down to size - that part really sucks. But I got quite a few trimmed - tonight I'll cut the rest and then I have to package them. And then that's it! Done! I am hoping to completely wrap this job up by Sunday. Then I have almost a full 2 weeks to dedicate to trip/wedding stuff - and just get really, really excited! :)

Other than the print job, over the past while I've:
  • been designing/making/writing thank you cards for all the nice gifts I got at the shower.
  • been working on reception-invitations and RSVP cards.
  • met with Marcie twice to practice hair styling (well, she does my hair - I just sit there).
  • met with Lora once to practice makeup (again, she did my make-up, I just sat there).
  • planning the after-party/reception. The last thing on my to-do list for the party is to get a "Serving It Right" licence and then get a special event liquor licence.
  • been doing my regular ebay stuff (selling prints). I'm going to stop listing items soon ... as I won't be around to deal with the orders!
  • been making an assortment of "to do" lists.

Other than that stuff, what else has been going on ... Dan & I decided to buy an Apple iPod Mini to bring along on our trip. I quite like it. We got a silver one. :)

Well, I 'spose that's about enough rambling for now. Ciao!

Shower

Angie hosted a bridal/wedding shower in my honour this past Saturday (April 9). I was somewhat stressed beforehand, cuz' I'm not really one to enjoy being the centre of attention ...

But it all worked out just fine. I had a good time - no stress at all! It was kind of strange opening gifts in front of 20 people, though ... :)

Angie did an AMAZING job - she should be an event planner! She paid attention to the smallest of details ... it was really, really great. Everyone had a great time.

Now I'm kind of sad that this is the only bridal shower I'll ever have!

Me opening gifts ...

Spoiled!

I got sooo spoiled by everyone at the shower ... lotsa really nice presents!

Spoiled!

The cake

Here's a pic of the cake Angie had specially made ... the photo on the left is of the town hall in Siena where Dan & I will be married. :)

Yum!

Job update

Been working hard ...

I'm very happy to report that I now have 93% of the prints done!!!

Although ... I still have to sign/date each one of them by hand - and package them ...

But nonetheless, this project is progressing much faster than I thought it would - YAY!

That means that I WILL still have some time to get organized before the trip/wedding!!! :)

Yay!

We received an email from our friend Bob yesterday ... it looks like we'll have another guest at our Euro-wedding! Yay!

Bob works for an airline so he can get free airfare - so really, there isn't any reason for him to not go. :) He does need to get a new passport though, so he was off to do that today. He should have it in time for the trip.

As of now, it looks like we have 11 friends meeting us in Italy; there is the possibility of a few more still too. How great is that?! Sometimes I find it hard to believe that anyone would go out of their way for me ... Dan yes, but not me. I always feel like I'm not worth it (hmmm...can you say low self esteem...)

I've been thinking the same way about the bridal shower that Angie is having for me tomorrow - apparently there will be 20 people there - and I can't help but be amazed at the thought that anyone would actually go to a party in my honour ...

P.S:
On a different note, I've already completed 13% of the prints that I need to get done for my commissioned gig! Not bad!

Crazy!

So, as I keep saying - I have so much to do over the next while. Exactly one month from today I'll be on European soil ... so lots to do before then!

I wanted to keep April "open" - dedicate my time to last minute trip/wedding details. The lunchroom redesign was cutting it close, but we did have it done by the end of March, so that was alright.

However, another prime opportunity has now presented itself ... I've been commissioned for a job that has to be done before we leave for Europe ... yikes!

It was too good to pass up. If I can do the job in the amount of hours that I think it should take me, it will pay an average of about $130 per hour. And yep, that's just too good to say no to ...

Basically, I've been commissioned to produce 620 art prints ... it's for a fundraiser/dinner - each person that buys a ticket for this fancy dinner are to receive a print as a thank you gift.

It's A LOT of work. Some seem to think that I won't be able to pull it off ... but I know I can. I HAVE to - there is no backing out now!

And hey, I work best under pressure ... :)

Shoes

Today I have the day off ... I just got up about an hour and a half ago. I've been walking around the apartment wearing my pajamas and my wedding shoes ...

I have to break them in. :)

I just hope I'm not bothering the neighbors below me (if they're even home). Walking around in shoes like this on hardwood floors ... well, it's kinda loud.

What do you think, though - like the shoes??

I couldn't go for a bigger heel - Dan doesn't have enough height on me! As well, I'm not really much of a heel-girl. I prefer flat shoes, even though heels can (visually) do amazing things for your legs. :)

Should be fun

We bought tickets for two upcoming shows - The Donnas and Moby. Fun!

I'm quite hyped about the Moby show, cuz' we'll get to see him play at a small club rather than a big festival this time. He's playing at the
Commodore (Bart, that's where you saw Fear Factory last year).

The Donnas will be a lot of fun too. The only lame thing is that it's an early show (opening bands start at 7pm) - oh well, we can always move on to another club after the show. I think we're going to get a bunch of people to go to the show, as it will likely be the last time we're all together before most of us jet off to Europe!

P.S:
Bart, how was the Nine Inch Nails show?! I'm so jealous! The last time I saw them was in, like, 1995 ... (by the way, I hope you had a GREAT birthday!!!)
