Exciting!

As you may (or may not) know, I'm not a fan of doing a few things: logo design, business card design and website design. I'm not a graphics-person - well, I'm capable of doing that stuff, I just don't enjoy it. That said, I came across a graphic designer whose style I really like - and so I'm getting her to design my business card. She's been great to work with - super quick, friendly - and she has great style!

She's just putting the finishing touches on the design, so soon enough I'll be able to get them printed. Woohoo!

And I'm just shopping around for someone to host my website, so that should be up soon too. I like it when good things happen. :)

In honour of such great things, let's enjoy a nice holiday pic of the monkeys!

Let is snow ...

I woke up this morning and this was the view from our front window:

And from the back door ...

And it's been snowing ever since! It started yesterday and has been going straight through - so for over 24 hours now. Crazy!

New shirt

I did TONS of Xmas shopping this weekend and because I was so productive, it was only fair for me to pick up a few things for myself ... here's one of my purchases. Me likes!! :)

The goal

My goal is to have my website up by the end of the month (eep, that's less than a week!) ... wish me luck! I might need it ... ha ha.

Actually, the site is pretty much good to go for now. It's nothing fancy, but it'll do for now. I can always spruce it up later. I've just been trying to finish up some new designs so I can include them in the portfolio section. I also need to re-photograph all of the samples for the portfolio section - right now they're all pretty much the same, but a few have different backgrounds that I'm not really happy with. I'd like to try to get them all fairly uniform (same background, lighting, etc). I guess I should get on that pretty soon if I want the new images up on the site by next week!

I'm excited to get the site up and get to work marketing. :)

Good quote

As of now my new site doesn't have anything like quotes on it, but I came across this one, and if I ever decide to include such a thing, here's an appropriate one:

"In a major matter no details are small"
- Paul De Gondi

I think it's pretty appropriate, considering my type of business ... 'cuz in my opinion, in a matter such as a wedding, I think that details such as great custom invitations are definitely not small! :)

Tom & Katie

Seriously, what's with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes copying Dan & I?!

First they copied us and got engaged at the Eiffel Tower in Paris ... and now they're having a destination wedding in Italy ... sheesh!

Copy cats!! :P

Katie, don't go through with it!!!

Frustrating is ...

... when you're in the middle of a project and you have to stop because you don't have something you need to complete the job. Ugh.

I was working on a new invitation design and had all of the materials I needed. Things were going well, and I had planned on finishing it tonight (woohoo!) ... until I encountered some stupid eyelets/grommets that sucked. I don't recall where I got them, but what shite!!! Instead of working like a regular eyelet, they just smushed all together ... instead of the backside fanning out when you hit the eyelet with a hammer, they just smushed down and got all wonked out (yes, smushed and wonked out are professional designer terms ... ha ha).

So I did have the necessary materials on hand to finish the design ... it just so happened that one of my materials was lacking in quality and ended up in the trash can. Now I can't finish the design sample until I get more eyelets ... and that's not going to be tonight. Poo!!

" Damn you, eyelets!!"

Feedback, please!!

Good news!! I'll be launching my business site soon. I'm just putting a few finishing touches on the site and trying to complete a new invitation design so I can include it - and then ... tah-dah, the site will *finally* be up! (I know, I know, loooong overdue ... but I won't go into the reasons why right now ...)

Anyways, I have one small dilemma, and I'm hoping that if you're reading this post, then you'll take the time to leave me your opinion (please do!). :D

I have an "about the designer" section on the site, that basically says a little bit about me and my background, and how my company came to be. I mention my destination wedding in Italy as well as my honeymoon in France in the blurb (as it all played a part in the inspiration for starting the company).

Now here's the thing - I am going to have a photo alongside the write up ... but the question is, which one? My original plan was to put one of my wedding pics up, but then I started to doubt myself, and started to think that maybe I should have more of a portrait style pic of me up.

Below are the two I'm considering ... what do you think?

Option #1: Pretty informal, fun pic.

OR

Option #2: Portrait-style

I had a friend say to me that she hates it when people put pictures of themselves on their websites - she thinks it looks egotistical. What do you think?? Me, personally, I like being able to put a face to a name ... especially when dealing in something important via the web. For example, when we were in discussion with our wedding planner in Italy, I was much more at ease after seeing a photo of him - I was able to put a name to the face and it really seemed to help for some reason.

Feedback, please!!! :)

Aysoh towah (Eiffel tower)

Just thought I'd share a cute pic of Sophie. Angie & Wayne snapped this one just after Sophie spotted the Eiffel Tower for the first time - she was apparently quite excited. She loves the Eiffel tower so much - it's cute. She's cute! :)

(if you look you'll spot the top of the tower in the background)

The messy bedroom project

Perhaps the messiest our bedroom has ever been?! Yikes.
