RIP, my little friend

Waaaay back, over 4 years ago, I bought my first professional grade flat iron. Since buying it, I've used that little fella every single day (on many days, more than once) .... it's travelled with me and been there with me for all hair days, both good and bad.

Oh how I couldn't live without my flat iron!

Well, my little friend started acting funny this past Tuesday. The heat indicator light started flicking on and off, and I found that the only way to get it to heat up was to hold it at strange angles (upside down, etc) .... at first I thought it was because of the extension cord I was using. So I tried a different one ... same outcome. I had to admit it, my faithful little friend was sick. But I was in a bit of denial, so I just unplugged the little guy and thought I'd see how it went the following day. Same story. :(

So, after using my fabulous little flat iron a minimum of about 2000 times (most likely much more), the time had come to replace him. So sad! I ordered one first thing on Wednesday morning and it was in my hands yesterday. I opted to go for the exact same flat iron (the Hai Convertable), as my original one worked so well (I also have the same flat iron, but the European version - because we travel to Europe so much) ....

One bonus is that the prices of flat irons have dropped since I first bought mine years ago! Professional quality ones were SO pricey back then.

Bourne to return!!

I heard through the grapevine that Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are lined up to make a fourth installment of the Bourne franchise. Yesssss!!!!!!!

The Bourne movies are some of my all-time favourite movies! :D

The Donnas & The Hives at The Commodore

Last Friday we went to see The Donnas and The Hives play at the Commodore. The Donnas opened and therefore (unfortunately) their set wasn't long enough - damn! But the set they played rawked!! It was great. The Hives were a different story ... it was way too loud, the singer seemed exceptionally obnoxious, and all of their songs sounded the same (probably due to the sound levels being far too high ... errr, I hope that's the reason?!)

(in case you're wondering why I've only posted a pic of The Hives and not The Donnas,
it's cuz' Dan had the camera during The Donnas set, and all his pics were sorta blurry ...)

Dan and I are the type of people that always stay until the end of a show - usually we stay at The Commodore until we get booted out at closing, but you know what we did on Friday? We actually left BEFORE The Hives were done! Yep, can you even believe that?! We've never done that before ... but their set was just sucking so badly, there wasn't any point in sticking around. Craziness, I tell ya!

Hawaiian getaway

Ahhh, I can't wait for April. We're taking a little mini-vacation and heading to the South Pacific! Yep, we're Hawaii-bound. It's hard to believe, but it's been almost 7 years since we were last there - it's crazy how time flies.

We usually go on our annual Europe trip in May/June but we have to mix it up a bit this year - it looks like we'll be going on our Eurotrip in September/October this year. Because that's so far away, we figured we'd better fill the gap with a small getaway ... and where better than Hawaii?! It's nice and close, and a bonus was that we had some airline vouchers to use, so the flight is costing us next to nothing. Sweet!

Hanauma Bay

We're going to stay in Waikiki for 8 nights. I think we'll have to rent a car though, cuz' we HAVE to go to the North Shore - it's gorgeous there (and less people!)

In preparation for this getaway, I've been exercising like mad. Gotta drop a few pounds if I wanna wear my swimsuit ... eeeek! Plus, if I can drop a bit of weight, I won't feel *too* bad about indulging in a few Lava Flows! ;)

Mmmm, Lava Flow ...

My Juicy new glasses

Before I left the day job, I wanted to make sure that I made the most out of my benefits (or at least the ones I won't have when I'm solely on Dan's benefit plan). I went for massage therapy as much as possible and bought new contacts and glasses (as Dan's plan doesn't cover that stuff).

Here are my new glasses! Fancy pinky-coloured ones, and the funniest part? They're Juicy Couture ... I'm soooo not a Juicy girl! (but hey, they're pretty cool frames)

A little breezy in Southern France ...

I was looking at some pics of our trip to Europe (May/June 2007) and had to laugh at some of the ones from Southern France. It was a little windy at times! Tee hee!
